DATESYTD: cumulative target since January

Nadia sets monthly sales targets per category in the Targets table. On her dashboard she wants to compare YTD sales with the YTD target, so the target must also be accumulated from January. The Targets table is linked to Calendar through the MonthStart column.

Task

Create the measure Target YTD in the Targets table: the sum of Targets[Target] inside CALCULATE with the filter DATESYTD ( Calendar[Date] ).
Visual: month (Calendar[MonthName]) × year (Calendar[Year]).

Target YTD = CALCULATE ( SUM ( Targets[Target] ), DATESYTD ( Calendar[Date] ) )

Explanation

DATESYTD returns every date from 1 January up to the last date in the cell, and that filter flows from Calendar to Targets through the MonthStart relationship. In June 2025 the result is the January to June 2025 target = Rp31 million, and December 2025 equals the full-year target (Rp80.1 million).
This CALCULATE + DATESYTD form is equivalent to TOTALYTD ( SUM ( Targets[Target] ), Calendar[Date] ), but more flexible: you can add other filters to the same CALCULATE. A common mistake is using Targets[MonthStart] as the date column. That column only holds the 1st of each month; it is not the marked date table.
