TOTALMTD: month-to-date sales progress

December is the busiest month for the coffee chain. Throughout December 2025, Dimas posts a daily update to the managers' WhatsApp group: "So far this month, how much have we sold?" The measure [Total Sales] already exists.

Task

Create the measure Penjualan MTD (MTD sales) in the Sales table with TOTALMTD: accumulate [Total Sales] from the 1st of the current month up to the last date in the filter context (date column Calendar[Date]).
Visual: day of month (Calendar[Day]), with the slicer Calendar[YearMonth] = 2025-12.

Hint 1
MTD (month to date) is the same idea as YTD, except that the accumulation restarts on the 1st of every month.
Hint 2
The pattern is the same as TOTALYTD: the first argument is the expression to accumulate, the second is the date column of the Calendar table.
Hint 3
TOTALMTD ( ___, Calendar[Date] )

Reveal them one at a time. The last hint nearly gives the answer away.

Give it a try first. The solution unlocks automatically after your first check.

Answer

Penjualan MTD

Penjualan MTD = TOTALMTD ( [Total Sales], Calendar[Date] )

Explanation

In the row for day 7, the filter context is just 7 December 2025. TOTALMTD widens it to 1-7 December and adds up [Total Sales]: Rp333,500. Days without transactions (for example 8 and 9 December) still show the latest accumulated amount, so the line rises step by step with no gaps. The Total row shows Rp1,617,500, the whole December figure, because the last date in its context is 31 December.
TOTALMTD is shorthand for CALCULATE ( [Total Sales], DATESMTD ( Calendar[Date] ) ). The CALCULATE form is more flexible when you need extra filters, for example the Online channel only.
