Merge & append queries

Join tables side-by-side, or stack them on top of each other.

  1. Step 1: Append: Home → Append queries to stack tables with the same columns (in the practice file: Sales_Jul + Sales_Aug).

  2. Step 2: Merge: Home → Merge queries to join two tables on a key column (like a VLOOKUP).

  3. Step 3: Pick the matching key in both tables (for example ProductID in Sales and Product) and choose a join kind (Left outer is most common).

  4. Step 4: Expand the new column to pull in the fields you need from the joined table (for example Category).

    Tip: Uncheck Use original column name as prefix for cleaner column names.
