Design a star schema

One fact table, several dimension tables around it.

  1. Step 1: Identify your fact table (the events: Sales) and dimension tables (Product, Date, Region).

  2. Step 2: Arrange the dimensions around the fact table so the relationships form a star, not a chain.

  3. Step 3: Add a dedicated Date table (Modeling → New table, for example with the DAX below), relate 'Date'[Date] to Sales[Date], then mark it via Table tools → Mark as date table for time intelligence.

    Tip: A star schema makes DAX simpler and reports faster than one giant flat table.
