COUNT, COUNTA, COUNTBLANK: assignment recap

Mr. Rudi, an English teacher, records essay assignment scores. Some students have been graded, some were excused (marked "Excused"), and some have not submitted anything yet (empty cell).

Task

Fill in the summary in column E:

E2: number of students (count the names in A2:A11) with COUNTA

Hint 1
COUNT only counts numbers. COUNTA counts every non-empty cell, text included. COUNTBLANK counts empty cells.
Hint 2
All three just need one range. The names are in A2:A11 and the scores are in B2:B11.

Explanation

=COUNTA(A2:A11) = 10 students, =COUNT(B2:B11) = 6 numeric scores and =COUNTBLANK(B2:B11) = 3 empty cells. That adds up to 9, not 10, because the "Excused" cell is text: COUNT skips it and it is not empty either. That is why choosing the right counting function matters. To count only the excused students, use COUNTIF(B2:B11,"Excused").
